LADYSMITH BLACK MAMBAZO - Music On The Half Shell 2005
I mentioned in a previous blog that every Tuesday evening through the summer Roseburg puts on a concert at Stewart Park www.halfshell.org. I really wanted to see LadySmith Black Mambazo www.mambazo.com because they are good! They are well known for their songs they did with Paul Simon on his "Graceland" album. If you want to know more check it out at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/criticallist/must_have_graceland.shtml.
It was packed of course so I made my way down to the stage and got as close as I could. I was sitting their in amazement of how good they are and all the noises they can make. I can't really explain it; you just had to be there. They were also dancing and doing all kinds of jumps. I tried to take pictures of them kicking because they can really kick and jump high.
They tried to teach us some Zulu and we butchered it of course. There was a lady from the audiance that came up and tried to dance with them. It was in the News Review. I'm really glad I went to see them. It was pretty cool that they came all the way to Roseburg.
